Disappointment over failure to license lap dancing clubs |

Despite similar measures having been introduced by the previous UK Government with regards the licensing and control of adult entertainment venues in England and Wales opposition parties in the Scottish Parliament today voted down similar measures introduced in an amendment to the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Bill by the Glasgow MSP Sandra White.
Ms White who tabled the amendment, in close collaboration with Glasgow City Council, had hoped to gain the support of opposition parties for the amendment which would given Local Authorities the power to regulate lap dancing clubs and other adult entertainment venues.

Ahead of a Scottish parliamentary debate today
(Thursday) on the future of the Glasgow subway SNP MSP Sandra White said
SPT had a lot of trust to win back with the public and politicians if
they wanted to be charged with delivering a revival of the Glasgow
subway.
Ms White who has consistently called for improvements in Glasgow's
inner city transport and for SPT to demonstrate what it actually
delivers for Glasgow's travelling public warned the organisation that it
must show it was the most efficient means of improving transport in
Glasgow and the West of Scotland. |

Questions over Gray's leadership on McAveety comments |

SNP MSP Sandra White today welcomed Frank McAveety's decision to
resign his post as Convener of the Petitions Committee as she questioned
Iain Gray's lack of action on the issue.
Ms White, a former member of the Petitions Committee said: "Frank
McAveety's comments were utterly inappropriate and he has done the right
thing by resigning, it's just a shame his party leader does not seem to
know what that is."

Commenting on Frank
McAveety's remarks at the Public Petitions Committee today which were
caught on camera, regarding a female member of the public attending the
hearing, Glasgow SNP MSP Sandra White said: "I am shocked and disgusted
at these remarks. The fact that they were uttered by Mr McAveety as the
convener of a parliamentary committee which had been considering
extremely important and sensitive issues makes it even more sickening.

Questions continue for scandal hit transport body |

Labour councillor at
heart of expenses row still in post
Ahead of a parliamentary debate on scandal hit Glasgow transport
body SPT and the future of the subway system SNP MSP Sandra White and
Glasgow Cllr Graeme Hendry have highlighted continuing concerns over the
operation of the organisation and its claims to have cleaned up its
act.
Following a series of revelations over the use of SPT expenses for
globetrotting trips by Labour councillors and senior officials a report
by accountants KPMG raised concerns over practices at the organisation. |
